Assam Rifle foiled an illegal liquor smuggling operation on 04 December 2024, in Chandel District. Two Bolero vehicles traveling from Moreh to Ukhrul were stopped at a checkpoint at SL Zougam, Chandel District.
A thorough search of the vehicles led to the discovery of 2880 bottles of fermented alcoholic beverages (Apple, Grape, and Honey Lemon flavours), all manufactured in Myanmar. The bottles were packaged in 120 boxes.
The total value of the seized liquor is approximately Rs One Lac Seventy Three Thousand. The two vehicles, along with the smuggled goods and two civilians, were handed over to Machi Police for further investigation.
ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDED TWO PREPAK (RA) CADRES NEAR INDO-MYANMAR BORDER
On 2nd December 2024, Assam Rifles apprehended two cadres of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Red Army), PREPAK (RA), near Border Pillar-79 along the Indo-Myanmar Border in Moreh, Tengnoupal District.
Based on specific intelligence, multiple ambushes were strategically set up along likely infiltration routes. Vigilance at an ambush point near Border Pillar-79 detected two individuals attempting to cross the fence into Indian Territory. They were swiftly apprehended.
During detailed questioning, the individuals confirmed their affiliation with the PREPAK (RA) group. The apprehended persons were handed over to Pallel Police Station on 03 December 2024 for further investigation.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED INTEGRATION TRAINING FOR MANIPUR POLICE RECRUITS AT LACHIT BARPHUKAN POLICE ACADEMY
On 2nd December 2024, Assam Rifles commenced the first phase of the Police Training Program at Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, Dergaon, Assam. The program is designed to instill the tenets of camaraderie, bonhomie and brotherhood among the recruits of Manipur Police.
The tailor-made training capsule by the Assam Rifles Training Team is guiding the recruits in understanding the ethos of a uniformed force and to think beyond communal affiliations, embracing unity as a cornerstone of their service.
Focusing on contemporary internal security challenges, the program equips recruits with essential tools and techniques through a blend of classroom instruction and outdoor team-building exercises. The training, conducted in three phases over six working days, trains approximately 700 recruits per phase. Currently, 650 recruits are undergoing training in the first phase of this meticulously planned capsule.
This initiative highlights Assam Rifles’ commitment to fostering professionalism, unity, and preparedness among law enforcement personnel while addressing the region’s unique challenges.
ASSAM RIFLES FELICITATES NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY CADET JODHA THONGJAOMAYUM AND HIS PARENTS
In a heartwarming ceremony, Assam Rifles felicitated Cadet Jodha Thongjaomayum, a proud son of Manipur, for his outstanding achievement in securing a Bronze medal at the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA). The felicitation event, organised at the Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (South) Headquarters, Mantripukhri Garrison on 04 December 2024 was to recognise and appreciate the remarkable achievement of Jodha in his three years of initial training. His parents, Th. Rosoraj Singh and Th. (O) Chandramala Devi were also felicitated during the event for their steadfast support and dedication in shaping their ward’s future.
Cadet Jodha, hailing from Khurai Thoudam Leikai, Manipur, has become an inspiring symbol of perseverance and dedication. Coming from a humble background, Jodha’s impressive feat at the NDA stands as a testament to the strength of determination and the power of dreams. ASSAM RIFLES DRIVES COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WITH ENVIRONMENTAL, MOTIVATIONAL AND HEALTH AWARENESS INITIATIVES IN KAMJONG, UKHRUL AND TENGNOUPAL DISTRICTS, MANIPUR
Assam Rifles continues to take meaningful contributions to Manipur’s development by organizing three impactful initiatives on 04 December 2024. These included a tree plantation drive at Namlee village in Kamjong district, a motivation cum awareness campaign for youth at Ramva village in Ukhrul district and a World AIDS Day commemoration at Ngamkhai Veng Community Hall, Moreh, Tengnoupal district.
As part of its environment-friendly initiatives, Assam Rifles organized a tree plantation drive to address deforestation and promote forest conservation in Namlee village. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 28 locals, including members of the Namlee Village Council and youth organization. The Company Commander inaugurated the event, emphasizing the need to protect natural resources. Participants undertook a cleanliness drive and planted 260 saplings across public spaces and along the Namlee-Kasong road. This effort highlights Assam Rifles’ commitment to environmental conservation and fostering sustainable practices. The local community expressed gratitude for the initiative and pledged to protect their natural heritage.
In Ukhrul district, Assam Rifles conducted a motivation cum awareness campaign at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Ramva village. The program aimed to inspire 54 students and four teachers to explore careers in the Security Forces. The event began with a motivational film and interactive sessions detailing career opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and State Security Forces. The campaign concluded with the distribution of refreshments, leaving the participants motivated to serve the nation. The school authorities and students expressed their appreciation for the initiative and pledged their support to the Security Forces.
To mark World AIDS Day, Assam Rifles organized an awareness event at Ngamkhai Veng Community Hall, Moreh. The event focused on educating 48 participants, including 45 men and three women, about HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care. Interactive sessions highlighted the importance of safe practices, early testing and support for those affected by the disease. The initiative aimed to empower the local community with knowledge and encourage preventive measures, fostering a compassionate and informed approach to combating HIV/AIDS.
Through these initiatives, Assam Rifles underscores its holistic approach to community development by addressing environmental conservation, youth empowerment and public health awareness. ASSAM RIFLES PROVIDES SECURE TRANSPORT FOR KWATHA RESIDENTS TO IMPHAL IN MANIPUR
Assam Rifles provided secure transport for 31 residents, including children and senior citizens, on 3rd December 2024.
The villagers of Kwatha, Tengnoupal District were escorted in protected vehicles to Imphal to address their educational and medical needs, ensuring their safety throughout the journey.
This initiative, aimed at facilitating access to essential services, has been warmly received by the residents, fostering trust, and building stronger rapport between Assam Rifles and the local populace.
