In a highly emotional and humanitarian gesture, the Border Security Force (BSF) of South Bengal Frontier has demonstrated its commitment to both security and compassion by facilitating a heartwarming reunion between a Bangladeshi sisters and their deceased Indian brother. The incident took place on Zero Line (International Border Line) near Border Outpost Matiyai under the jurisdiction of 32 Battalion of BSF on 14 December 2024.
The incident came to light when panchayat member of border village Baaganpada told the Company Commander of Matiyari Border Outpost about the demise of Romjan Mondal, a resident of Baaganpada village under PS Krishnaganj of Nadia district. His two sisters who reside in the border village in Bangladesh side, expressed desire to bid a final farewell to their deceased brother. Realising the deep emotional significance of this request, the Company Commander took prompt and empathetic action to facilitate the reunion of the family in this hour of grief.
The BSF, in coordination with the BGB, arranged for the last darshan of late Romjan Mondal at the Zero Line on the International Border for the sisters and relatives of the deceased. The atmosphere at the border was full of emotions as the family members expressed their gratitude for the humanitarian approach adopted by both the border forces.
Speaking on the occasion, The Public Relations Officer, BSF, South Bengal Frontier said, “BSF jawans not only guard the borders day and night but also remain ready to meet the human and social needs of the people living along the international border.”
