A dominant performance by the batsmen followed by a superb effort by the bowlers helped Bengal Under-16 team bag first innings lead after their Vijay Merchant Trophy match against Maharashtra ended in a draw in Surat on Thursday.
With nine points from three matches so far, Bengal are placed in second spot in Elite Group E.
Earlier, opting to bat, Rajesh Mondal (139) Atmaja Mondal (94) and Rajdip Khan (42) helped Bengal post a challenging 394 in their first innings.
In reply, Maharashtra were bowled out for 256 on the third and final day to hand three crucial points to Bengal.
Akash Tarafdar (3-49), Sachin Yadav (3-59), Ankush Chakraborty (2-46), Agastya Shukla (1-25) and Aritra Chakraborty (1-68) were superb with the ball for Bengal.
