West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the Kolkata Christmas Festival on Thursday at Allen Park in the Park Street area. This marks the 14th edition of the festival, which will run until December 30. During her speech, Banerjee emphasized the importance ofreligious harmony and unity, stating that preserving unity is essential for completeness in society.

The festival will run until December 30, featuring cultural programs and community celebrations. Notably, on December 24 and 25, Park Street will be transformed into a pedestrian zone to accommodate festivities. 

In her remarks, Banerjee highlighted Kolkata’s status as India’s “cultural capital” and called for continued efforts towards peace and unity among diverse communities.

The festival will run until December 30, featuring cultural programs and community celebrations. Notably, on December 24 and 25, Park Street will be transformed into a pedestrian zone to accommodate festivities.

Key Highlights of the Festival:

Cultural Performances: Renowned singer Remo Fernandes is scheduled to perform on December 20, with various cultural programs organized by local artists throughout the festival period.

Traffic Regulations: From 4 PM on December 24 until 4 AM on December 25, and again from 4 PM on December 25, vehicular traffic will be restricted in several areas, including Park Street. Specific roads will be closed to ensure pedestrian safety during the celebrations.

Illumination and Decorations: The entire stretch of Park Street, along with Allen Park and St. Paul’s Cathedral, will be illuminated with festive lights, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.
