Assam Rifles proudly organised a Felicitation Ceremony today for the participants who successfully completed a 12-week Skill Development Programme focused on Hospitality and Retail. This initiative saw the participation of 46 individuals, comprising 24 girls and 22 boys, equipping them with essential skills to enhance their employability.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Kh Ibomcha Singh, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Lamlai Assembly Constituency, who served as the Chief Guest. The programme was a collaborative effort between Assam Rifles, We Care Skill Solutions, and the NGO Sunbird Trust, designed to empower local youth through practical training.
The graduates of this programme have secured employment with prestigious establishments such as ITC Maratha in Mumbai, Food Link in Mumbai, Grand Hotel in Goa, Lifestyle Resort in Goa, 4 Points by Sheraton in Shillong, and Taj Hotel in Delhi.
During the event, Mr Kh Ibomcha presented National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) certificates and offer letters to the successful participants. He was joined by Major General Ravroop Singh, Sena Medal, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), and Brigadier A Boral, Vishisht Seva Medal, Commander of 9 Sector Assam Rifles.
In his address, Mr Kh Ibomcha commended the students for their dedication and hard work. He emphasised the transformative impact of skill development on their futures and expressed gratitude towards We Care Skill Solutions and Sunbird Trust for their support in this initiative. He encouraged participants to act as ‘Brand Ambassadors’ for the rich culture and hospitality of Manipur.
This marks the second Skill Development Programme conducted by Assam Rifles since June 2024. To date, these efforts have facilitated employment for 107 youths, allowing them to embark on respectable careers. The ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of the participants but also reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to the socio-economic development of the region.
