Kalimpong witnessed a historic moment with the successful Organize of its first-ever Sub-Junior District Women’s Hockey Championship 2024, by Hockey Kalimpong held at Vrindavan School .Various schools from across the district participated in the two-day tournament, showcasing exceptional talent and enthusiasm for the sport.
Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir emerged as the champions, while Government High School secured the runner-up position. The event was graced by the presence of Lawan Subba, General Secretary of the Kalimpong District Sports Association (KDSA), as the chief guest.
Organized under the aegis of Hockey Bengal, the championship saw active involvement from Ejaz Ahmad, Executive Member of Hockey Bengal, who participated as an observer. The tournament also served as a platform for selecting promising young talents, with 18 players being chosen to represent Kalimpong in the upcoming State Hockey Championships.
The event marked a significant step in promoting hockey by among young athletes in the district and laid the groundwork for fostering future champions in the sport.
