Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently reviewed the progress of the under-construction Multi Disciplinary Sports Complex located in Khanikar, Dibrugarh. During his inspection on December 23, 2024, he expressed concern over the slow pace of construction and emphasized the need for expedited work to meet project deadlines.
The project, which is significant for enhancing sports infrastructure in the region, has faced delays that have prompted the Chief Minister to direct officials to take necessary actions to accelerate progress. This complex is part of a broader initiative to improve sports facilities across Assam, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting sports and youth engagement in the state.
The Multi Disciplinary Sports Complex is expected to serve as a vital hub for various sports activities and events, contributing positively to local community engagement and sporting excellence.
Earlier on December 23, 2024, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended an event at Mancotta Ground in Dibrugarh as part of the state’s “12 Days of Development” initiative. During this event, he distributed benefits under various government schemes aimed at supporting students and promoting education in the region,
CM Sarma awarded cash prizes to 1,255 students from Dibrugarh district who achieved 75% marks or above in their High School Leaving Certificate Examination. This initiative is designed to encourage academic excellence among students.
The Chief Minister also distributed 10,270 bicycles to Class IX students from government and provincialized schools, with a breakdown of 4,707 bicycles for boys and 5,563 for girls. This initiative aims to promote mobility and access to education for young students in the district.
