The Indian Air Force (IAF) is fully committed to support civil administration in successful conduct of Maha Kumbh-2025, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, scheduled to be held in Prayagraj. Maha Kumbh-2025 is expected to be an unparalleled manifestation of faith that would project Prayagraj on global stage. Headquarters Central Air Command will provide crucial support ranging from promotion of civil aviation activity at Prayagraj to provision of Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) cover so as to render effective support to the Government of Uttar Pradesh in befitting conduct of this religious extravaganza.
Multiple meetings with Mela Adhikari, District Magistrate Prayagraj and other local functionaries have been conducted towards facilitating operations and administrative support. The Air Force Station Bamrauli will act as a nodal centre towards facilitating flying operations for Mahakumbh-2025 for civil scheduled, non-scheduled and chartered flight on 24 X 7 basis from 20 December 2024 to 28 February 2025. The Instrument Landing System at Bamrauli Air Force Station has been maintained as Cat-II ILS to facilitate flying operations even during poor visibility conditions that are expected to prevail during winter season. The station has facilitated construction and swift opening up of four lane Kaushambi to Airport Highway and Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Begum Bazar, by transferring IAF land for road development and displacing Landing threshold of Runway 12 at Air Force Station Bamrauli airfield that would have otherwise prevented construction of ROB. All possible assistance has been provided to Airport Authority of India (AAI) towards timely expansion of the civil airport terminal. IAF has also planned to maintain a dedicated Rescue Coordination Team at the Mela site which would be equipped with Specialist Equipment for first Aid, triage and causality evacuation. The involvement of IAF in the Maha Kumbh-2025 highlights the unwavering dedication to national service, disaster response and public safety.
