On 27 December 2024, Assam Rifles in collaboration with Henglep Police Station, successfully destroyed approximately seven acres of illicit poppy cultivation in T Langhoimol village, Henglep Subdivision, Churachandpur District, Manipur.
The operation, which began in the morning and concluded by afternoon, forms part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to combat the production and trafficking of narcotics in the region. The destruction of these poppy fields marks a significant step in addressing the root causes of drug addiction and the illegal trade network that poses a serious threat to the social and economic fabric of the state.

ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES FOOTBALL CAMP AND DISTRIBUTES SPORTS ITEMS AT CHELEP VILLAGE, TENGNOUPAL DISTRICT
On 27 December 2024, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with civil authorities, organised a football camp for children at Chelep village, Tengnoupal District. The initiative aimed to steer local youth away from the dangers of drug addiction and promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
The camp featured a friendly football match, followed by the distribution of sports equipment such as footballs and volleyballs to encourage continued participation in sports. A total of 60 children, including 20 girls, took part in the camp.
The villagers expressed their heartfelt gratitude for Assam Rifles’ efforts to foster sportsmanship and engage the youth, especially in the context of the ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur. This initiative helps create a positive and constructive environment for the younger generation.
