5th Brahmaputra Classical Dance Festival Concludes with Grandeur in Pandu

The 5th Brahmaputra Classical Dance Festival was successfully concluded on 5th January 2024 at Guwahati’s Atal Udayan. Organized by Manjary Dance Academy, a Bharatnatyam and Sattriya dance institution in Adabari, Guwahati, the festival is directed by its founder-principal Tatini Das, a Bharatnatyam exponent.

It is aimed at providing a platform to young artists, and encouraging forthcoming generations to pursue Indian classical dance forms. Having successfully concluded its earlier edition at Kolkata, the festival returned to its home state in its fifth year. The line up included a host of performances in various fields of Indian dance: Sattriya by Gandharba Kala Kendra, Odissi by Ankita Kulabhi, Roopchanda Sarma and Bidisha Kalita, Kuchipudi by Abhishek Das, Kathak by Bhupali Das, Bharatnatyam by Kritika Chowdhury, Gaudiya Nritya by Sangsmita Nath Mazarbhuiya and Rabindra Nritya by Somoshree Dance Academy. The event was received very well by an audience of over 400 people, with prominent artists including  Bipul Chandra Das,  Anjanamoyee Saikia, Smt. Dimpee Baishya and Smt. Dreamly Gogoi gracing the occasion as guests.

The evening also witnessed the prize distribution ceremony of Nritya Manjary 2024, an annual national-level dance competition organized by Manjary Dance Academy on 28th and 29th December 2024. The competition sees wide participation each year, and the 2024 edition was a huge success. Debashish Saha,  Ankita Kulabhi,  Dimpy Baishya and  Prerona Bhuyan were part of the judgement panel at Nritya Manjary 2024.
