Lt.Col.Rajeev Bakshi Memorial FT commenced in Manipur

19th Lt.Col. Rajeev Bakshi Memorial Football Tournament kicked off in Parbun in Pherzawl district in Manipur on 13th January.

36 AR is organizing this jointly with Pherzawl District Football Association.

Lt Col Rajeev Bakshi, SM (P) of 13 Dogra, made the ultimate sacrifice on 20 January 2006, displaying exceptional courage, dedication, and selflessness in the highest traditions of the Indian Army. Known as the “Tiger of Tipaimukh,” he led his troops with valor during operations in Parbung and Tipaimukh, ensuring the safety of the Hmar community and minimizing civilian casualties. His efforts were pivotal in freeing the area from insurgent atrocities between 2003 and 2005, earning the eternal gratitude of the locals.

To honor his legacy, the Hmar community, along with the Assam Rifles and local organizing boards, has been hosting the Bakshi Memorial Football Tournament annually since 2007.

This event not only commemorates his bravery and sacrifice but also inspires the youth of Manipur to serve the nation with dedication and courage.

Lt. Col Rajeev Bakhshi was a valiant soldier and an officer par excellence who led from the front and laid down his life in the line of his duty following the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
