ASSAM RIFLES ALONGWITH REPRESENTATIVES OF EXCISE AND NARCOTICS DEPARTMENT, CHAMPHAI, RECOVERED HEROIN NO 4 WORTH RS 35.51 CRORES IN GENERAL AREA CHHUNGTE, CHAMPHAI, MIZORAM

In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles, recovered Heroin No 4 (5073 gms) worth ₹ 35.51 Crores (Rupees Thirty-Five Crores Fifty-One Lakhs Ten Thousand) hidden in a truck which was moving from Champhai to Aizwal on NH-6 and apprehended two individuals (Mr Gilbert Lalnunhlima, 27 yrs, resident of Vairabi village, Kolasib) and (Mr Lalawmpuia, 29 yrs, resident of Aizawl) in general area Chhungte, Champhai district on 24 January 25. The entire consignment alongwith apprehended individuals have been handed over to Excise and Narcotics Dept, Champhai for further legal proceedings.  

Ongoing smuggling of narcotics is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram and India. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against illegal smuggling and have also doubled its efforts to nab the kingpins of the smuggling of narcotics in Mizoram.
