In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles, recovered 10 Hongs of Heroin No 4 and Methamphetamine Tablets weighing 2.276 kg worth ₹ 7,64,55,000 (Rupees Seven Crore Sixty Four Lakh Fifty Five Thousand) from General Area Crossing Point III (Lipui), Zokhawthar, Champhai district and apprehended one individual *(Lalruatzauva, Age – 34 yrs (Mizo), S/o – C. Vanlalzinga , R/o – Dilkawn, Champhai, Mizoram) on 27 January 2025. The entire consignment and the individual was taken into custody by Police Department, Zokhawthar for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Ongoing smuggling of contraband items is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram and India. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against illegal smuggling and has also doubled its efforts to nab the kingpins of the smuggling of contraband items in Mizoram.
