Bengal’s innings and 13-run victory over Punjab in their final Ranji Trophy group match at the Eden Gardens was a perfect farewell gift from the team to their very own Wriddhiman.

*“It has indeed been a long journey. I have enjoyed every bit of it. I have done the best for every team I have played. There has been a lot of memories. I thank each and everyone who were involved with me in my journey. Now it is time to spent time with family,” Wriddhiman said.*

Bengal head coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla said, “Wriddhiman has always been a team man, supporting youngsters. The best part was that, even after playing a match for India, he came back and played club-level cricket here. The commitment he has shown is something incredible. He hasn’t changed from the day he started playing. My best wishes and love to Wriddhiman.”

Bengal captain Anustup Majumdar said, “We have spent a lot of time together, playing together at the junior and at the senior level as well. He has been incredible with the bat and as a wicket-keeper. He has taken unbelievable catches behind the stumps. There are of memories attached with him. I wish him all the best.”

Wriddhiman, who has played 40 Tests, 9 ODIs, 142 First-class and 116 List A matches, making his first-class debut for Bengal back in 2007 against Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens, has been a stalwart for Bengal cricket.
