An ESM re-union rally alongwith Silver Jubilee Year of ESM Association, Borjhar to commemorate the completion of 25 glorious years was held on 9th February 2025 at Hari Gayatri Das College, Azara to address the grievances related to Pension, banking and documentation issues under one roof. The rally was attended by 93 ESM, 46 Widows and 73 Wives/ Dependents of ESM.
The ESM rally was presided over by Brig Polash Choudhury, SM (Retd.), Director, Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam as Chief Guest, Col Robin Coomar Das (Retd.) as Guest of honour and Col Padmalochan Barman (Retd.), Welfare Officer, Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M) alongwith his Staff as host with other retired Senior Officers from Armed Forces and serving civil dignitaries also attended the rally. This included Wing Commander Gobinda Baruah (Retd.),President, ESM Association, Borjhar, Dr. Biju Baruah, Principal, Hari Gayatri Das College, Shri Arun Sarma, Retired Principal, Hari Gayatri Das College and Shri Manoranjan Bhattacharjee, Ex-President of Sakha Sahitya Sabha and also Pratidin correspondent. Ex Hony Ft Lt Dhirendra Deka, President, Ex-Servicemen Association, Borjhar welcomed all distinguished guests, Veer Naris, Ex-Servicemen & their dependents and thereafter proceedings commenced.
Col Padmalochan Barman (Retd.), Welfare Officer, Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M) in his talk congratulated ESM Association,Borjhar on reaching this remarkable milestone of 25 years and covered the following aspects.
(a) Re-settlement & Re-habilitation of Ex-servicemen.
(b) Welfare schemes provided by Kendriya Sainik Board, New Delhi & Rajya Sainik Borad, Assam
(c) Welfare Schemes provided by Government of Assam.
(d) SPARSH alongwith pension related grievances.
(e) ECHS related issues.
(f) Reservation of Seats in Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges.
(g) Reservation of 2% vacancies in Group A,B,C and D of Assam Govt recruitment.
In addition to the above, he also apprised the Ex-Servicemen community about Governor Assam “Rashtriya Kritagyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana” a sensitization initiative of Hon’ble Governor of Assam in partnership with Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam.
Brigadier Polash Choudhury, SM (Retd.), Director, DSW, Assam addressed the rally on behalf of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam congratulated ESM Association, Borjhar on completion of 25 glorious years and conveyed gratitude to the veterans and their families for their sacrifice and services to the nation and urged them to continue contributing towards social and nation building through their engagement with serving personnel and civil dignitaries. In his talk, he also assured expeditious redressal of their grievances/issues and reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Rajya Sainik Board to the welfare and well-being of Ex-Servicemen community.
In recognition of their sacrifice and service Veer Naris, Orphan & Disabled dependent and eminent veterans were felicitated during the rally.
