JOINT OPERATIONS BY INDIAN ARMY AND ASSAM RIFLES RESULTS IN APPREHENSION OF CADRES AND RECOVERY OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN MANIPUR

In a series of successful joint operations, Indian Army including Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur Police and other security forces, apprehended eight cadres, recovered 25 weapons, ammunition and warlike stores from both hill and valley regions in the districts of Kakching, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Imphal East and Chandel in Manipur.

Acting on credible intelligence, Assam Rifles conducted a search operation in the Laiching-Duthang Junction area of Chandel District on 02 Feb 25. The meticulous operation utilizing drones, canines etc led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a country-made Pt 303 rifle, a 9mm pistol, a 12 Bore rifle, several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.

On February 3,  2025 the Indian Army, in coordination with CRPF and Manipur Police launched an intelligence-based operation in areas of Saiton Khunao and nearby villages (1.5 Km East of Phougakchao/ NH-2) in Bishnupur district and recovered one AK-47 rifle, two 9mm Sub Machine Guns, two pistols, one 2 inch mortar, grenades, two IEDs and ammunition.

In Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles personnel during an Area Domination Patrol (ADP) in the forested region near P Laijang in Temgnoupal district on 04 February 2025 identified three individuals acting suspiciously. Upon being spotted, the suspects fled, prompting a thorough search of the area, which resulted in unearthing a concealed cache consisting of Improvised Projectile Launchers (Pompie) of various calibres and locally made grenades.

Indian Army, Assam Rifles, BSF and Manipur Police launched a joint search operation in Nongyai Hill Range in Kakching District on 06 February 2025 and recovered a 7.62 mm Self Loading Rifle (SLR), a Single Barrel Gun, two IEDs, grenades ammunition and war like stores. On the same day, in Chandel District, Assam Rifles conducted a search operation based on a reliable input between Geljang and Tyang and recovered one 7.62 mm Assault Rifle, ammunition and war like stores.

On 07 February 2025, acting on intelligence, Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur Police launched a search operation in Uyok, Bishnupur District. The operation led to the recovery of a .303 Rifle, three Single Bore Barrel Guns (SBBL), a .22 Pistol, a 9mm Pistol, ammunition, grenades and other war-like stores.

A series of intelligence based joint operations in various districts of Manipur on 08 Feb 25, resulted in apprehension of eight cadres and recovered arms and ammunition. The detsils of the same are as follows.

In Thoubal district a search operation launched in general area Kakmayi, resulted in apprehension of a cadre from Kangleipak Communist Party (Kangleipak). Similarly, a joint search operation in General Area of Tellou, Imphal East, resulted in apprehension of seven cadres of the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) along with recovery of one AK-47, two INSAS Rifles, three Self Loading Rifle (SLR), ammunition and war like stores.

The recovered weapons and other items recovered in the operations have been handed over to Manipur Police.

The successful recovery of these warlike stores highlights the seamless cooperation between the Indian Army and other law enforcement agencies, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring the security and safety of the region.
