Spear Corps Strengthens Bonds with Ex-Servicemen, War Widows, and Veterans in Nagaland Mega Rally

Spear Corps of the Indian Army demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its veterans by hosting a mega Ex-Servicemen Rally at Rangapahar Military Station, Nagaland on 12th February 25.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 1300 Ex-Servicemen, widows, war veterans and their dependents. 20 Veer Naris (war widows) and 33 war veterans, including a distinguished participant from the 1962 Indo-China War, were in attendance, actively engaging with officials and sharing their invaluable experiences. The rally was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland, Mr. Neiphiu Rio and Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, ASM, YSM, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps and senior government officials.

The Veer Naris, war veterans, and widows were honoured by the dignitaries for their sacrifice and service to the nation. The war veterans inspired younger generations, motivating them to contribute to nation-building. Comprehensive medical facilities, including ENT, Orthopaedic, Eye specialists and dentists were available at the venue with doctors and paramedical staff, providing consultations and medicines to Ex-Servicemen. Medical assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, walking sticks, and hearing aids, were distributed to needy Ex Servicemen, Veer naris and War widows.

To facilitate addressing of pension-related issues and other queries, senior representatives from Naga and Assam Regiment record offices, along with officials from 20 other record offices, were present. The Army Recruitment Office, Dimapur, provided information on upcoming recruitment opportunities and policy updates. Five lawyers from the State Legal Department offered guidance on legal matters, while representatives from five banks and insurance companies advised on matters of financial planning to the Ex Servicemen.

The event also featured a vibrant cultural programme, including a scintillating Pipe Band March, Khukri dance, Dog show, Bahngra, Ghatka, and local cultural performances. This Ex-Servicemen rally served as a poignant reminder of the enduring connection between those who serve and those who have served. It also highlighted the critical role of supporting Ex Servicemen, their families, veer naris and widows, ensuring their well-being and honouring their sacrifices.
