In a series of intelligence-based operations in Churachandpur, Thoubal, Tengnoupal and Imphal East districts, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps apprehended 16 cadres from hill and valley-based groups of Manipur and recovered nine weapons on 14th and 15th February 2025.
In a successful intelligence-based operation near the Indo Myanmar Border in Churachandpur district on 14 February 25, Assam Rifles apprehended seven cadres of hill-based groups and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. The recovered items include one 7.62 mm Assault Rifle, three Single Barrel Rifles, ammunition and war like stores. On the same day in Tengnoupal district, an intelligence-based cordon and search operation involving use of drones, Bomb Disposal (BD) teams and Explosive Detection (ED) dogs resulted in recovery of one 9 mm pistol, one 7.65 mm pistol, an improvised long-range mortar, several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores. The BD teams safely neutralized the IEDs in situ.
Acting on specific intelligence of presence of cadres in general area Sikhong Sekmai and Heirok, of Imphal East and Thoubal districts, a joint operation of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched on 14 February 25. The operation resulted in apprehension of five cadres of valley-based groups and recovery of war like stores.
On 15 February 2025, on receipt of credible intelligence of presence of cadres and arms in general area Andro Khunao, in Imphal East district, a joint operation of Indian Army and Assam Rifles launched on 15 February 25 resulted in apprehension of four cadres (including two female cadres) of valley based groups and recovery of two pistols, ammunition and war like stores. In a similar operatio, on 09 Feb 25, an intelligence-based operation on presence of cadres in general area in Kawnpui Village, Churachandpur District, Assam Rifles launched an operation, apprehended a cadre and recovered two weapons.
The apprehended personnel and the recovered items in both the operations have been handed over to Manipur Police. These successful operations highlight the continued commitment of Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police and other security forces in maintaining peace and security in the region.
JOINT OPERATION RESULTS IM APPREHENSION OF A CADRE
Acting on specific inteligence of presence of cadres in general area Kairang, Imphal East district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation on 15th February 2025 and apprehended a cadre, who on initial questioning expressed his allegiance with Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) People’s War Group (PWG). The apprehended individual has been handed over to the Manipur Police.
