ASSAM RIFLES RESCUE DRIVER INVOLVED IN A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT

Assam Rifles under rescued a driver of a truck who lost control of his vehicle and plunged nearly 100 meters into a gorge on 24th February 2025, near Gamphazol village in Khengjoi Sub-Division, Chandel district .

The truck came to a halt after getting entangled in dense vegetation. The driver remained trapped inside the mangled cabin with severe injuries. Assam Rifles teams quickly reached the location, extricated the injured driver, provided immediate medical assistance, and evacuated him to District Hospital Chandel for urgent treatment.

The swift and courageous action of Assam Rifles personnel, despite challenging terrain and hours of darkness, ensured the timely rescue of the victim, reaffirming their commitment to serving the people of Manipur.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCT WREATH LAYING CEREMONY OF BRAVEHEART

Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony in honour of Late Nk Tek Bahadur Thapa, Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) at Sehlon, Chandel District who made the supreme sacrifice in counter insurgency operations in Aizawl, Mizoram on 25 February 1983.

Nk Tek Bahadur Thapa was leading a team during an operation against MNF insurgents. The team cordoned a jhum hut and apprehended the suspects. During the interrogation, one suspect managed to run away towards the jungle and was followed by Nk Thapa. The insurgent fired at NK Thapa that hit him in stomach. Despite injury, Nk Thapa showed exceptional bravery and fired at the running insurgent and eliminated him. Nk Tek Bahadur Thapa succumbed to his injuries at hospital in Aizawl. For his unwavering courage, gallant actions and supreme sacrifice, Nk Tek Bahadur Thapa was awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously in 1984.

Senior official from Assam Rifles laid wreaths in presence of nearly 150 personnel and exhorted them to qualities of selfless service and devotion to duty.

SECURITY FORCES JOINTLY DESTROY ILLICIT POPPY CULTIVATION IN TENGNOUPAL & CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICTS

In planned operation aimed at eradicating the drug menace in Manipur, in collaboration with Manipur Police destroyed approximately 29 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in Tengnoupal and Churachandpur Districts.

In general area of Dampi hill range under Sangaikot Sub-division, Churachandpur District, the joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police destroyed 4 acres of illegal poppy on 24 February 2025. Similarly in a joint operation, Assam Rifles, BSF, and Manipur Police destroyed approximately 25 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Khudei Khullen village, Tengnoupal District.

The operation aimed to disrupt the opium supply chain and counter insurgent groups involved in the drug trade. Authorities emphasize the importance of continued community cooperation in addressing drug-related challenges and promoting sustainable alternatives.
