In furtherance of ongoing efforts of The West Bengal & Sikkim NCC Directorate towards empowering the youth and shaping these future leaders to overcome challenges, a fecilitation plus award ceremony was held at NCC Training Institute in Kolkata. While individual awards were presented to cadets excelling in different spheres of the wide canvas of NCC activities through the past year, the prestigious Banner for the Best Performing Group as collective achievement was won by The Darjeeling & Sikkim Group for the last year competitions.
The event also witnessed Best NCC Battallion Trophy being awarded by the Additional DG West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate, Major General Vivek Tyagi, to the Bolpur NCC Unit of Burdwan Group(10 Bengal Bn) while Best Air/Naval Unit award went to 2 Naval Unit of NCC located at Kolkata. This NCC unit had recently also undertaken The longest leg of The Special sailing Expedition conducted by the most adventurous & skilled Naval Cadets of NCC. Adventure remains at the core of NCC training and a Para Sailing camp is also being conducted by The Air Wing of the Directoarte at Behala Air Strip in which both Girl & Boy Cadets are actively participating. Air Vice Marshal PVS Narayana was special invitee for the ceremony from HQ DG NCC and was earlier briefed at Directorate HQ in New Alipore on recent initiatives of West Bengal & Sikkim Directoarate aimed at enhancing efficacy of NCC Training.
The passionate cadets presented a variety of vibrant cultural programs reflecting national fervor, positive energy and spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity’ fostered by NCC. The exceptional Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) from renowned educational institutes of West Bengal were also awarded along with Girl Cadet Instructors (GCIs) for their exemplary contributions and unwavering commitment to the organization.
Raksha Rajya Mantri Commendation was presented to SUO Abhimanyu Singh for displaying highest level of sincerity and selflessness while participating in various fields of NCC activities both at State and National levels, while Defence Secretary Commendation was presented to Lt (Dr) Biva Samadder of Surendra Nath College for consistent selfless work in support of NCC Training. The DG NCC Commendations were presented to Lt Shukla Sarkar & Sr GCI Pranita. These awards had been announced for Directorate achievers on Republic Day 2025 recently.
