The Assam Rifles National Integration Tour team from Tengnoupal, under Operation Sadbhavana, paid a solemn visit to the historic Kohima War Memorial, honouring the bravery and sacrifices of soldiers who fought in the Battle of Kohima (World War II) on 28 February 2025.
This visit served as a tribute to their valour and the enduring legacy of their sacrifice. The team engaged with local historians and veterans, gaining profound insights into the battle’s historical significance and its lasting impact on the region.
As part of their journey, the team also visited the Cathedral Church of Kohima, the second-largest church in Asia. The visit was a spiritually enriching experience, marking a holy and inspiring beginning to the tour.
The initiative aims to promote national integration, historical awareness, and cultural harmony among the youth.
ASSAM RIFLES COMMEMORATES NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY
In a concerted effort to foster scientific curiosity and education among the youth, Assam Rifles orchestrated a series of dynamic events across Manipur in celebration of National Science Day on 28 February 2025. These initiatives spanned multiple districts, engaging students, educators, and community members in a collective pursuit of knowledge and innovation.
In Sehlon, Chandel District, Assam Rifles conducted an array of activities in the villages of New Samtal, Kovang, Phoilen, Aibol Joupi, Old Samtal, and Sehlon. The programs included debate competitions, awareness lectures, poster campaigns, and rallies, all designed to ignite a passion for science among local youth. The events saw enthusiastic participation from 183 individuals, reflecting the community’s commitment to educational advancement.
At Thoubal District, a dedicated National Science Day event brought together 25 local students and 33 Assam Rifles personnel. The day’s agenda featured informative lectures, a quiz competition, and interactive discussions emphasizing the practical applications of science in everyday life. These engagements aimed to cultivate a scientific temperament and inspire students to explore careers in science and technology.
At UJB School, Manam Jang Village, Kangpokpi District, Assam Rifles organized a session focusing on scientific aptitude and career opportunities in science-related fields. The Company Commander interacted with 32 students and teachers, highlighting the importance of innovation and scientific thinking in national development. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to consider futures in engineering, medical research, and technology sectors.
At Veng Village, Churachandpur District, recognizing the significance of National Science Day, Assam Rifles hosted an event for local students attending SSC (GD) pre-coaching classes at Veng Village. The program commenced with an engaging lecture on fundamental scientific concepts and the historical importance of Sir C.V. Raman’s discovery of the Raman Effect. Students participated in a Science Quiz Relay and hands-on activities, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a practical setting.
Through these diverse and enriching programs, Assam Rifles reaffirms its dedication to empowering communities by promoting education and scientific awareness. By reaching out to remote and border areas, the organization strives to inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders, ensuring a brighter and more informed future for all.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY
Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at Sehlon, Chandel District in honour of Late Rifleman Surendar Lal Arya who made the supreme sacrifice during intense counter insurgency operation in Silchar, Assam in the year 1995.
Rifleman Surendar Lal Arya was on duty at observation post at Kalainchara Post when insurgents opened fire. Rifleman Surendar Lal Arya, displaying raw courage, fired at the insurgents and successfully averted attack on the post. During the firefight, Rifleman Arya was shot at the abdomen and was evacuated to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on 28 February 1995.
The ceremony commenced with the wreath laying by senior officials of Assam Rifles who exhorted all ranks narrating the story of the braveheart to infuse pride and honour in the force. Over 150 personnel of Assam Rifles paid tributes honouring the braveheart.
VILLAGERS ASSIST ASSAM RIFLES & CIVIL ADMINISTRATION IN DESTROYING ILLICIT POPPY CULTIVATION
On 27 February 2025, the villagers of Suangkong village, Churachandpur District of Manipur in a concerted effort with Manipur Police & Assam Rifles destroyed approximately 10 acres of illegal poppy cultivation, in the hills of Suangkong village in Churachandpur District.
The villagers of Suangkong got together and approached Assam Rifles to provide security and assistance in destroying the illicit poppy cultivation in their area.
This operation is a critical step in combating the spread of narcotics and its detrimental effects on society and also signifies, Assam Rifles sustained efforts to curb the production and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances in the region.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED A MEDICAL CAMP IN, KAKCHING
Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Waikhong village, Kakching district, on 27 February 2025 as part of Operation Sadbhavana in coordination with team of Specialists from Thoubal District Hospital and Medilane Foundation.
The initiative aimed to provide essential healthcare services to residents in remote areas, where access to medical facilities remains limited due to the prevailing situation in Manipur.
The camp witnessed overwhelming participation from the local community, benefiting a total of 808 villagers. It included medical check-ups, distribution of medicines, and awareness sessions on hygiene, sanitation, preventive healthcare, and lifestyle diseases. Medical experts also addressed public queries, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment to prevent prolonged illnesses.
This initiative underscores Assam Rifles’ commitment to community welfare, ensuring access to healthcare for underserved populations and fostering goodwill among the people.
