In a significant development aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of the region the Assam Rifles inaugurated a newly constructed Multipurpose Hall at New Cannan village, situated in the Ukhrul district of Manipur on 27th February 2025. This initiative is part of the ongoing Operation Sadbhavana Project, which aims to foster goodwill, uplift local communities, and provide vital infrastructure to underserved areas.
The village of New Cannan, has long faced challenges in terms of basic infrastructure. The introduction of this Multipurpose Hall will play a crucial role in bridging these gaps, serving as a community space for meetings, social gatherings, and other group activities that foster collaboration and unity.
The event saw the participation of local dignitaries, 35 villagers, senior officials from the Assam Rifles and community leaders who all expressed their support and commitment to the continued development of the region. The project is also expected to serve as a catalyst for further initiatives in the area, aimed at improving education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
*ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS “LECTURE ON WOMEN EMPOWERMENT” IN MANIPUR*
Assam Rifles in its continued efforts towards community engagement and social upliftment, conducted a lecture on ‘Women Empowerment’ in Walkhu village of district Churachandpur, Manipur. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the role of women in society and encourage their active participation in various fields.
The session was inaugurated by the Company Commander, who emphasized the importance of empowering women for the overall development of society. This was followed by an insightful address by a Riflewoman of Assam Rifles, who shared her experiences and perspectives on breaking barriers and achieving success.
To ensure effective communication and inclusivity, the Principal of a local school also participated in the event, wherein she explained to the audience in their dialect, thus enhancing understanding.
The event concluded with a summary by the President of the local women’s organization, who emphasized on the key takeaways and encouraged the women of the village to embrace opportunities for growth and self-reliance.
