ASSAM RIFLES HONOURS LATE MAJ BOB KHATHING IN MANIPUR

Assam Rifles commemorates Late Major Bob Khathing with Wreath-Laying Ceremony and Tournament Finale.

Assam Rifles organized a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial statue of Late Major Bob Khathing, along with the closing ceremony of his 113th Birth Anniversary Tournament, on 27 February 2025 in Ukhrul district, Manipur.

The wreath-laying ceremony was conducted with full honours. Wreaths were laid by the Deputy Inspector General, IGAR (South); Deputy Inspector General, Headquarters 10 Sector Assam Rifles; Mr. John Khathing, son of Late Major Bob Khathing; and Shri Ashish Das, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul.

The 11th edition of the Late Major Bob Khathing Tournament concluded with the men’s football final, marking the culmination of a week-long sporting event held in association with the Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) from 20 to 27 February 2025.

The final match saw an intense contest between HPFA and Semka FC, with both teams displaying remarkable skill, determination, and tactical brilliance. Every move was met with swift counterplay, keeping the competition fierce and electrifying. The relentless effort and steel spirit of both sides made for a thrilling spectacle.

In the end, HPFA emerged as champions of the 11th Bob Khathing Football Tournament, while Eagle Club secured victory in the volleyball final. In the Baby League Tournament, HOPE FC claimed the title.

The closing ceremony was attended by youth, women, students, teachers and people from all walks of life. The residents of Ukhrul expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for organizing the tournament and paying tribute to the legacy of Late Major Bob Khathing.
