The Assam Rifles paid solemn tribute to Naib Subedar Late P Srinivas Rao of 33 Assam Rifles, who made the supreme sacrifice on 09 September 2012 in an Improvised Explosive Device blast while carrying out Road Opening Party duties at Moirang Khunou, Manipur.
To honour his valour and sacrifice, a wreath-laying ceremony was organised at the National War Memorial, New Delhi, on 04 March 2025. The ceremony was attended by his next of kin, Smt P Padmaja (Wife) and Miss P Nikita (Daughter), along with senior officials and personnel of the Assam Rifles.
The event was a testament to the Assam Rifles’ steadfast commitment to honouring its bravehearts and ensuring that their sacrifices remain etched in the nation’s memory.
ASSAM RIFLES IN JOINT OPERATION DESTROYS ILLICIT POPPY CULTIVATION
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Manipur Police and the Border Security Force (BSF), eradicated 40 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Khudai Khullen, Tengnoupal District on 05 March 2025.
This initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of security forces to combat narcotics and ensuring a drug-free society.
The security forces remain steadfast in their mission to uphold peace and stability.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCT WREATH LAYING CEREMONY
As a part of paying homage to bravehearts Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at Sehlon, Chandel District in honour of Late Lance Naik Khim Bahadur Thapa who made the ultimate sacrifice displaying unwavering courage and dedication to duty despite facing overwhelming odds in intense Counter Insurgency Operation in Aizwal, Mizoram on 05 March 1966.
During the first week of March 1966, MNF cadres attacked on Assam Rifles headquarters. Lance Naik Khim Bahadur Thapa courageously protected his post and prevented the MNF insurgents from advancing towards the headquarters. During the firefight, Lance Naik Khim Bahadur Thapa was injured and made the supreme sacrifice displaying valour and courage on 5th March 1966.
Wreath was laid by senior officials of Assam Rifles who exhorted all ranks to infuse pride and honour in the force. Over 150 personnel from Assam Rifles paid tribute by laying wreaths & honouring the braveheart.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS A MEDICAL CAMP IN MANIPUR
Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Suangdai village, Churachandpur district, Manipur on 5th March 2025.
The medical camp catered for essential healthcare services for the villagers and aimed at delivering primary medical assistance including health check-ups, distribution of medicines and awareness on hygiene and disease prevention. A total of 78 villagers benefitted from the said camp.
