ASSAM RIFLES RESCUES CIVILIANS AFTER TRUCK PLUNGES INTO RIVER NEAR KUJANG, CHANDEL DISTRICT, MANIPUR

Assam Rifles personnel carried out a swift rescue operation after a truck lost control and plunged nearly 80 meters into River Tuiyang near Kuljang village, Khengjoi Sub-Division, Chandel district, Manipur, on March 8, 2025.

The accident occurred around 0930 hours when the truck while reversing skid into a deep gorge before crashing into the river. The vehicle’s cabin suffered heavy damage, leaving the driver, critically injured and the co-driver, a woman with minor injuries.

Acting swiftly, Assam Rifles personnel, assisted by local villagers, navigated the steep terrain to reach the site. The injured were given immediate first aid and transported to Chakpikarong Public Health Centre for further medical attention. The prompt response ensured their timely evacuation and medical care.

ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATED INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY ACROSS MANIPUR

Assam Rifles celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 across various districts in Manipur, reaffirming its commitment to women empowerment, community welfare, and social harmony.

At Pallel (Kakching District), Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture for ex-servicemen, widows, Veer Naris, and dependents, highlighting various welfare grants and financial support schemes. Seventy individuals, including children, participated in the session. A tree plantation drive was also organized, reinforcing the message of environmental sustainability and community development.

In Pangaltabi (Kakching District) and Unopat (Chandel District), Assam Rifles organized a cleanliness drive, an interactive session, and a medical check-up, emphasizing community well-being and women’s health. Women were honoured with gifts in recognition of their contributions to society. Additionally, a motivational session and a volleyball match were conducted at Unopat Village, fostering self-confidence, perseverance, and teamwork. Winners and participants were felicitated, making the event both engaging and inspiring.

In Churachandpur District, Assam Rifles marked the occasion by distributing essential items such as solar lights, chairs, plastic wardrobes, and food supplies to a local girl orphanage. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the children, who expressed their gratitude with heartfelt smiles and a cultural performance.

Through these initiatives, Assam Rifles once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to respect, equality, and solidarity, actively contributing to a more inclusive and empowered society.
