Author Namrata Datta Honored on International Women’s Day

Celebrated author Namrata Datta received an appreciation from the organization ‘Secular Humanism’ in honour of International Women’s Day. Grateful for the recognition, Datta stated, “This is a remarkable moment in my life, receiving this honour from a group of dedicated social activists for my work, which is a tremendous inspiration for me.”

A team from the organisation ‘Secular Humanism’ team led by Secretary Satyabrata Pujari and Kakoli Hazarika visited Datta’s home in Guwahati to facilitate the author. This initiative aimed to acknowledge the significant contributions of women across various sectors, particularly in society, literature, art, and media.

Kakoli Hazarika praised Namrata Datta for her unwavering contributions, saying, “We deeply value your active participation and impact in the realms of art, literature, mass media, and research. We hope your writing and endeavours will always serve as an inspiration to the women of Assam.”

As a published author and media professional, Namrata Datta has held various roles within creative and academic fields. Her acclaimed documentary film, ‘Lakshahira – The Woman of Substance,’ highlights the life and achievements of Assam’s prominent educationist and musician, Dr. Lakshahira Das, and has been shown multiple times in educational institutions, including colleges and universities. Additionally, she has translated Gulzar’s poems and the book ‘Actually I Met them’ into Assamese, enhancing the literary landscape.

The ‘Secular Humanism’ team, consisting of men and women from various societal backgrounds, is committed to social causes and the advancement of women’s rights. Their recognition of Namrata Datta underscores her role as a creator and thought leader whose work continues to motivate and empower women throughout the region.
