In a series of operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formation under Spear Corps launched intelligence-based operations in the hill and valley districts of Chandel, Imphal West, Kakching and Thoubal on 12-13 March 25 in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP and recovered 50 weapons, Improvised Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores. Security forces also destroyed bunkers in Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
Intelligence based operations in general area Laijang in Chandel district by Indian Army and Assam Rifles resulted in recovery of 36 weapons comprising 23 Improvised Mortars (Pompi), three AK series weapons, one INSAS, one Carbine, two muzzle loaded rifle, one 0.303 rifle, five pistols, ammunition and war like stores.
Similarly, in Thoubal district, an intelligence-based search operation launched by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police, resulted in recovery of seven weapons comprising two 9 mm Carbine, one 12 bore rifle, one Single Bore Barrel Rifle (SBBL) and three Pistols.
Three weapons comprising one mortar, one 12 bore rifle and one pistol were recovered in general area Singjamei in Imphal West district in a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police. In general area of Wangoo of Kakching district, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police resulted in recovery of four weapons comprising one carbine, one 0.303 rifle and two single barrel rifles.
The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.
These coordinated efforts by security forces highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
