ASSAM RIFLES DEDICATES INFRASTRUCTURE FOR FOOD PROCESSING IN MANIPUR
Assam Rifles dedicated infrastructure for Food Processing Centre at Nampisha Village, Kamjong District, Manipur, on 14 March 2025. The initiative as part of the Operation Sadbhavana, represents a meaningful step towards empowering local communities by providing essential infrastructure to facilitate commerce, trade, and self-employment in the remote border region.
The newly established Food Processing Centre will serve as a hub for local farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs in the border villages. This facility will enable them to market their agricultural and forest products, while supporting small-scale businesses and promoting economic independence. By reducing the need to travel long distances for essential infrastructure, the Centre will improve local livelihoods and enhance economic resilience.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community. The village headman of Nampisha joined by the local Pastor, Village Secretary and other village leaders officially dedicated the facility, More than 60 villagers, including men, women and children, attended the event, highlighting the strong bond between the Assam Rifles and the local people.
The successful implementation of this project underscores Assam Rifles’ commitment to nation-building and community welfare, further solidifying its legacy as the “Sentinels of the Northeast” and “Friends of the Hill People.” The villagers expressed their deep gratitude for Assam Rifles’ ongoing dedication to infrastructure development, community welfare, and economic empowerment.
‘RUN CHANDEL RUN’ – ASSAM RIFLES SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCT THE 4TH EDITION OF CHANDEL MARATHON’
Assam Rifles in collaboration with District Sports Association (DSA) Chandel, Wisecrabs, Lakshya Academy and REACHA foundation, Chandel District Administration, Chandel Police and Medical Department successfully conducted the ‘Run Chandel Run’ 2025 Marathon on 15 March 2025.
In a synergised effort making it a calendar event for Chandel sporting season and with the motto “Chandel Runs for Peace and Unity”.
The event was organized to spread the message of peaceful co-existence and also to promote fitness, health and well-being amongst the local populace, especially the youth. The event was a great opportunity for the community to come together and support a noble cause. An enthusiastic participation of 800 runners dashed through the picturesque trails of Chandel.
Deputy Inspector General, Assam Rifles flagged off the marathon with the emphasis that sporting events like Marathons bring together people from all walks of life and encouraged everyone to make physical activity a part of their daily fitness regime.
The event was organised for participants in four categories namely below 16 Years for boys and girls, Open Category for men and women, Above 45 Years Dream Run and 12 Km Open Category Cross Country.
Participants were from all ages, including students, athletes, troops of Assam Rifles, Chandel Police and Manipur Rifles and fitness enthusiasts. DIG, Assam Rifles and Assam Rifles Commandant fuelled the marathon by their participation.
Enthusiastic locals also showcased their talent at the colourful closing ceremony.
The commitment of Assam Rifles in bringing to gather all the communities together and adopting fitness and healthy living among the citizens of Manipur.
