In a major blow to narcotics smuggling in the region, Assam Rifles under agies of HQ IGAR (S) launched Operation Kuljang on 16 March 2025, resulting in the seizure of 137 soap cases of brown sugar.
Acting on specific inputs regarding the movement of contraband items on the Khangbarol -Joupi- Churachandpur road, a team from Assam Rifles launched a Dynamic Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at village Kuljang and intercepted a Maruti van carrying one individual.
Upon searching the vehicle, the team recovered 137 soap cases containing brown sugar worth approximately 3.29 Cr in international market and two mobile phones.
The individual was apprehended and identified as Indian national was handed over to Molcham Police Station C/o Chandel Police Station, along with the seized items on 16th Mar 2025.
This operation demonstrates the commitment of Assam Rifles disrupting narcotics smuggling in the region and ensuring a safer environment for the local population.
*ASSAM RIFLES INITIATES REHABILITATION PROGRAMME FOR VILLAGE VOLUNTEERS IN CHURACHANDPUR*
In line with the vision of restoring peace and stability in Manipur, Assam Rifles launched a comprehensive rehabilitation programme for 20 youth of Churachandpur District in Manipur. Theseyouth aged between 16 – 25 are being provided with skill-based training to help them contribute positively to their communities.
The initiative includes specialised training in musical instruments, masonry, carpentry and computer skills. These vocational courses equip participants with practical expertise and hands-on experience, ensuring sustainable livelihood opportunities within and beyond the region.
This effort aligns with the broader goal of long-term stability and social harmony, complementing the efforts of the security forces and government towards disarmament and reconciliation. Assam Rifles remains committed to constructive engagement that steers youth away from violence and towards nation-building.
The programme has been well received by the local community, who recognise the importance of such initiatives in rebuilding lives, strengthening social bonds and contributing to overall development.
