On 18 March 2025, Assam Rifles, felicitated Lieutenant Wanmei Kheang of Changlangshu village and his parents at Tuensang Garrison in recognition of his achievement of joining the Indian Army as a commissioned officer. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Assam Rifles commended Lt Kheang’s perseverance and dedication, highlighting his journey as an inspiration for the youth of the region.
Addressing students from St. John’s Higher Secondary School, St. Joseph’s School, and Government Higher Secondary School, Lt Kheang shared his experiences and encouraged both boys and girls to aspire for career in the Armed Forces, emphasizing the values of discipline, patriotism, and service to the nation. His mother felt very proud that his son is now commissioned as an officer. She expressed to all the students present in the ceremony to pursue their dreams with hard work and determination. DIG Assam Rifles motivated all the students to emulate the fine example set by Lieutenant Wanmei Kheang to serve the nation.
This initiative by Assam Rifles aimed to instill a spirit of nationalism and ambition among the youth, motivating them to strive for excellence and consider a future in the Armed Forces.
