Sealdah division is ready to operate one more subway for the sake of passenger convenience and seamless connectivity. The new subway will connect Sealdah station with Sealdah Court, B. R. Singh Hospital area and Metro Railway network by underground passageway enabling commuters to move safely and efficiently.
Opening of this all important subway will eliminate the need of passengers to walk through congested concourse area of Sealdah, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and near-misses. It will effectively separate pedestrian traffic from Rail traffic and road traffic. Rail users can now access platforms of Sealdah station and Metro Rail with reduced travel time and stress.
This state-of-the-art subway is loaded with accessibility features like ramps making it easier for passengers with disabilities to navigate the station. The all new subway is designed with ventilation system that will improve air quality and minimize the impact of air pollution on passages. Moreover, the subway is designed with clear signage and way finding system, improving the overall passenger experience.
Shri Milind Deouskar, General Manager/Eastern Railway has recently took stock of the condition of subway and directed Sealdah Divisional Authorities to accelerate the residual works for expeditious opening of the the same for common people. He said that, opening of this renovated subway will enhance connectivity and embolden commuters to reach Green Line stretch of Kolkata Metro connecting Howrah & Sealdah easily. Shri Deouskar has hailed the progress of ongoing infrastructure development projects at Sealdah Station and circulating area.
