139TH DRUCC MEETING HELD AT SEALDAH DIVISION

Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway successfully convened its 139th Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting today. The meeting, held at Rabindra Sabha Kakshya, Sealdah, was presided over by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Sealdah, Deepak Nigam, and witnessed active participation from Railway officials and DRUCC members.

The 139th DRUCC Meeting facilitated valuable discussions on various achievements, ongoing developmental projects, and passenger-related concerns within Sealdah Division. Key topics included the enhancement of passenger amenities, infrastructure upgrades, introduction of new services, and improvements in safety and security measures.

While speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Managern of Sealdah Deepak Nigam reiterated the division’s commitment to providing a comfortable and convenient travel experience for all passengers.

In this meeting discussions revolved around the progress of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Nigam also elaborated on the comprehensive upgrades planned and underway at various stations under this ambitious scheme. These upgrades are designed to modernize station infrastructure, provide better passenger facilities, and create a more aesthetically pleasing environment.

The meeting also addressed the crucial initiative of increasing train capacity by converting 9-coaches to 12-coaches. This expansion will directly address the issue of overcrowding and provide more comfortable travel for a larger number of passengers.

Another significant achievement discussed was the extension of all platforms to accommodate 12-coach trains, A significant development aimed at easing passenger movement at the busy Sealdah South station was also brought to the forefront – the creation of a new entry and exit point. This additional access point is expected to significantly reduce congestion, particularly during peak hours, and provide a more convenient experience for commuters.

Also announced the imminent re-launch of the renovated subway. This revamped underpass will offer a safer and more comfortable pedestrian crossing, further improving connectivity and reducing surface-level congestion within the station premises, Previously, 9-coach EMU rakes were equipped with 2 ladies coaches. Recognizing the growing need and to provide more comfortable and convenient travel for all women commuters, the upgraded 12-coach EMU trains will now feature three dedicated ladies coaches.

Beyond these major projects, the meeting also included detailed discussions on various other ongoing and planned works related to passenger amenities. These included improvements to waiting rooms, sanitation facilities, drinking water provisions, better signage, and enhanced security measures across various stations within the Division.
