Passengers, vendors and railway users were counselled on the benefits of maintaining cleanliness

Eastern Railway remains committed to ensuring a clean and hygienic environment at railway stations. In line with this commitment, Cleanliness Awareness Programme was conducted today across various stations over Sealdah Division, aimed at sensitizing passengers and railway users about the importance of cleanliness and responsible waste disposal.

The programme was carried out at Sealdah and Ballygunge stations. Passengers, vendors and railway users were counselled on the benefits of maintaining cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and the prohibition of spitting in railway premises.

During a cleanliness awareness drive at Sealdah station, passengers, vendors, and hawkers were sensitized about their role in maintaining cleanliness at the station. They were advised to use the dustbins provided within railway premises and to refrain from throwing garbage on the tracks or station premises.

As a special initiative, a rose was gifted to vendors and hawkers found littering at the station premises. This symbolic gesture aimed to make them aware that they were being recognized as the biggest contributors to garbage at the station. The initiative effectively highlighted the importance of responsible waste disposal and encouraged them to adopt cleaner practices.

Eastern Railway urges all passengers to refrain from spitting or littering on station premises, as such practices not only deteriorate the station’s ambience but also pose serious health hazards. The collective efforts of passengers and railway authorities are essential to ensuring a cleaner and healthier railway environment.
