Pursuant to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a DRUG FREE INDIA (Nasha Mukt Bharat) and acting upon the directives of Union Home Minister Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has achieved significant success in dismantling drug network in West Bengal.
In a major breakthrough, Kolkata Zonal Unit of Narcotics Control Bureau dismantled a drug syndicate in the Hooghly area of West Bengal.The said syndicate was dealing in large scale trafficking of ganja. It has been revealed that a father son duo, residing in the Haripal area were the key members of the drug syndicate. They were accordingly tracked and arrested on 26.03.2025, along with 118 kg ganja.
Investigation into the matter has revealed about involvement of 02 other members in the syndicate who were impersonating as NCB officers and harbouring the drug traffickers for a long time on receipt of protection money. One of the two facilitators had worked as daily contingent staff on contract basis with NCB 13 years ago.
Later, after persistent effort one of the two conspirators was apprehended from a running train in Bihar.
Investigation in respect of the supplier of the seized drug is under way.
To fight against drug trafficking, NCB seeks support of the citizens.
