New Travel Book titled “Meghalaya through the Prism of the Youth” celebrating the Hidden Wonders of Meghalaya’s Landscapes was released at Army Public School, Shillong on April 25 2025.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the book celebrates the breathtaking charm and natural beauty of Meghalaya.The book stands out not only for its rich content but for the unique collaboration behind its creation – by students, Army Officers and teachers of the school, making it the first literary project of its kind undertaken in any school.
The event was graced by Paul Lyngdoh, Minister of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya along with Lt Gen Sanjay Malik, SM, GOC 101 Area, Nivedita Malik, Zonal President, AWWA and Brigadier Sandeep Dhupar, Chairman of Army Public School, Shillong along with other Senior Officers of the HQ.
Conceptualised by Brig Sandeep Dhupar, the book explores the serene landscapes of Meghalaya and brings to light the lesser known destinations that lie beyond the tourist.
The book is a celebration of learning beyond classroom and is a compilation primarily by students of APS Shillong, based on their field trips. This book stands as a testament to what education truly achieves when it is rooted in experience. Through this initiative, the students learn to respect the culture of the region as also the importance of sustainability and the joy of discovery.
With its beautiful imagery, rich narratives and unique perspectives, the book promises to be a treasured resource for anyone interested in the beauty and culture of Meghalaya.
