JOINT OPERATIONS BY SECURITY FORCES RESULT IN APPREHENSION OF CADRES, RECOVERY OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION

In a series of operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formation under Spear Corps launched intelligence-based operations in the hill and valley districts namely Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, Senapati, Kakching and Bishnupur between 20 -26 April 25 in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP. The operations resulted in apprehension of 16 cadres from the hill and valley based groups and recovery of 27 weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.

On 19 April, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police launched a intelligence based joint operation in the area between Yangoubung and T Bongmol villages in Tengnoupal District and uncovered a concealed hideout containing a significant cache of explosives, including multiple metal and plastic Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 22 kg, ammunition and war like stores. The IEDs were destroyed in situ, and the recovered items were handed over to Manipur Police.

In Churachandpur district, an intelligence based operation launched by Indian Army and Manipur Police on 24 April 2025, in general area of Teijang, lead to the recovery of five weapons comprising a 9mm Sub Machine Gun, a single barrel rifle, three Improvised mortars (Pompi), grenades, ammunition and war like stores. On the same day in the general area Taphour Kuki, in Senapati district, an intellifgence based joint operation resulted in recovery of four bolt action Single Barrel Rifles and ammunition.

An intelligence based joint operation in Bishnupur district in general area Nambol resulted in apprehension of an Over Ground Worker (OGW), recovery of a AK 56, ammunition and war like stores. On the same day, based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of cadres, the Indian Army, in coordination with Manipur Police, launched a search operation in Thamnapokpi area of Bishnupur district, leading to the recovery of a eight weapons comprising one Carbine Machine Gun, one .303 rifle, two 9mm pistols, four single barrel rifles, grenades, two improvised explosive devices weighing 2.200 kg and 1.700 kg, ammunition and war like stores.

On 26 April 25, the Indian Army, in coordination with the Manipur Police launched a joint operation in the general area of Moltingcham (2.5 km SE of Sugnu) in Churachandpur district, leading to the recovery of eight weapons comprising one Self Loading Rifle (SLR), two single barrel rifles, one bolt action rifle, four modified long-range mortars (Pompi), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.

Multiple joint operations by Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted in the hill and valley districts resulted in the apprehension of 16 cadres from the valley and hill based insurgent groups along with recovery of a pistol, mobile phones, two-wheelers and currency.

The apprehended cadres and the recovered items have been handed over to ManipurPolice.

These coordinated efforts by security forces highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
