ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES “A DAY WITH COMPANY COMMANDER”
Under the theme “A Day with Company Commander”, Assam Rifles organised a vibrant and heartfelt initiative in Shakpao in Kamjong District and Sita in Tengnoupal District, Manipur.
The twin events were aimed at igniting young minds with the spirit of nationalism, leadership, and understanding of the armed forces’ role in nation-building.
At Shakpao, 40 students and 5 teachers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Ramva spent a day immersed in the life and values of Assam Rifles. A spirited interactive session with the Company Commander gave students the chance to interact and know more about a soldier’s life, leadership, and service to the nation. Laughter and friendly competition filled the air during Tug of War, Musical Chairs and a Volleyball match, where both troops and children joined hands in joyous camaraderie. A guided tour of the camp offered a rare glimpse into the operational and daily responsibilities of the troops. The event concluded with a prize distribution, leaving the children with cherished memories and a newfound admiration for the uniform.
Simultaneously, at Sita in Tengnoupal, 30 students and 2 teachers engaged in a similarly enriching programme. Highlights included a motivational talk, elocution competition, weapon display and lively recreational activities. The event served as a platform to encourage youth to consider careers in the Armed Forces and imbibe values of discipline, teamwork and service.
The students and teachers at both locations expressed heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for these unique opportunities. These engagements exemplify Assam Rifles’ deep commitment to nurturing Patriotism, Youth Engagement, and Civil-Military Harmony, particularly in remote regions.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES MEDICAL CAMP
Continuing its commitment to providing humanitarian aid and accessible healthcare in remote regions, Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Phaisangjang village in Khengjoi Sub Division of Chandel District on 30 April 2025.
The camp, conducted by the Medical Officer of Assam Rifles, witnessed a turnout of 68 villagers including 24 women and 26 children, availing medical consultation and treatment services.
The medical team addressed a variety of health concerns including respiratory infections, skin conditions, fever and general health issues. Complementary medicines were distributed to all patients post consultation.
The initiative was warmly appreciated by the villagers as the camp not only catered to the health needs of the local populace but also reinforced the strong bond of trust and cooperation between Assam Rifles and the communities in far flung areas.
ASSAM RIFLES SEIZES BANNED DRUGS AND CASH IN CHANDEL DISTRICT
Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR (South) swiftly launched a coordinated operation at T Bongmol, New Songyang axis, and Yangoubung Chandel district on 29 April 2025. Acting on intelligence from own sources and technical inputs regarding the movement of suspicious vehicles from Moreh towards Churachandpur.
Multiple MVCPs were established at T Bongmol Junction, New Songyang axis, and Yangoubung. Two vehicles were intercepted at Yangoubung PVCP. During inspection, ₹2.6 lakh in unaccounted cash was recovered. Both vehicles were taken to Moreh Police Station for further investigation, where 30 packets (3 Lakh tablets) of banned WY drugs worth ₹9 Cr. were recovered.
Two individuals have been apprehended, and recoveries include one Bolero (AS 32/9471), one Hyundai Creta (DL 5N 2021), banned drugs, and cash. The apprehended individuals, vehicles and contraband have been handed over to Moreh Police Station for further legal action.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS JOINT INTERNAL SECURITY EXERCISE IN MOREH, TENGNOUPAL
Assam Rifles in coordination with Border Security Force (BSF), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the Local Police, conducted a Joint Internal Security Exercise (Jt IS Ex) in Moreh, Tengnoupal District on 30 April 2025. The exercise aimed to validate the coordination, Preparedness and response mechanisms of Security Forces (SF) to effectively manage an internal security situation in the region.
The exercise assessed the response to various contingencies, including mob control, medical emergencies, arson by miscreants, armed miscreant activity and interference from violent cadres.
A total of 120 personnel from BSF, 40 from RAF, 150 from Assam Rifles and 10 local police personnel participated in the exercise. This initiative strengthens the region’s internal security framework and enhances inter-agency coordination.
ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATES LOCAL FESTIVALS WITH THE POPULATION
Assam Rifles actively participated in the celebration of Lai Haorabo, the most significant religious festival of Kwatha village, Tengnoupal District.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 100 local villagers, including children, who came together in a vibrant display of tradition, devotion, and cultural unity.
Devotees from neighbouring areas such as Moreh and Imphal also joined the celebration, making it a truly regional occasion of spiritual and cultural importance. Assam Rifles ensured a secure environment for the festivities and stood shoulder to shoulder with the community, reinforcing bonds of trust and cooperation.
The event was marked by traditional music, colourful attire and communal harmony. Assam Rifles’ presence and support reflected its continued commitment to peace, stability, and the preservation of cultural heritage in the region.
