Sikkim Makes Marked Presence at the WAVES Global Forum in Mumbai

Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi yesterday inaugurated the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

Organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, the summit is being held under the theme “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries” and brings together global thought leaders, innovators, and industry powerhouses to shape the future of the media and entertainment sector.

The grand inaugural ceremony was marked by a vibrant cultural showcase and was graced by the presence of leading figures from the film, media, and business world.

While the glamour and grandeur of Mumbai lit up the event, Sikkim’s presence added a significant regional perspective to the national platform, with senior dignitaries and departmental delegations participating actively in the summit.

Representing the Office of the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Bikash Basnet, and Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Yougan Tamang, are attending the grand summit, signalling the state’s intent to engage deeply with emerging opportunities in media and digital entertainment.

Secretary Information and Public Relations Department Government of Sikkim Ms Annapurna Alley, Secretary Information Technology Department Tenzing T Kaleon, Director IT Tsering Samdup, along with other Information and Public Relations Department officials are also attending the summit, reflecting Sikkim’s growing digital potential and innovation capacity in the entertainment ecosystem and its ambition to contribute meaningfully to India’s evolving media landscape.

The four-day summit will feature a series of high-profile panel discussions and industry dialogues in the days to come.
