In a prompt and coordinated response to a potential public safety threat, the Indian Army successfully carried out the controlled disposal of 47 old vintage hand grenades recovered during civil construction work in Daporijo, Arunachal Pradesh.
On the evening of 12 May 2025, approximately 47 old vintage hand grenades were unearthed during a civilian construction activity. The discovery, made at around 06:30 pm, led to immediate action by the civil administration, who cordoned off the area and requisitioned Indian Army for assistance for the safe disposal of the recovered items.
Responding swiftly to the request, a team of experts rushed to the site.
The team undertook extreme precaution with utmost emphasis on public safety and environmental safeguards and carried out controlled blasting on 14 May 2025.
The civil administration expressed heartfelt gratitude and felicitated the Army team for their timely and professional response. The operation stands as a testament to the strong coordination between the Indian Army and civil authorities in Arunachal.Pradesh in ensuring the safety and well-being of the local population.
