The sacred Ambubachi Mahayog is all set to begin at Maa Kamakhya Dham, located atop the holy Nilachal Hills, from June 22. As per tradition, the temple doors will close for devotees at 2:56 PM on June 22, marking the beginning of the Pravritti (seclusion period). The temple will remain completely closed on June 23, 24, and 25.

The doors will reopen for devotees on the morning of June 26, after Nivritti (resumption of normalcy).

In a joint press conference held on Monday in the Kamakhya temple premises, officials from the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration, police department, and temple management committee shared details of the upcoming event. A senior member of the Daloi Society of the temple emphasized that this year again, the administration is committed to ensuring a peaceful and orderly celebration.

Unlike in the past, a fair-like atmosphere is being discouraged to prevent crowding. The administration has appealed to the public to avoid unruly behavior or disorder.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Parthasarathi Mahanta stated that over the past two years, nearly 2.7 million devotees had visited the temple during the seven-day period. Given the serious threat of landslides this year, special safety measures have been put in place. Climbing to the hilltop will be allowed only from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and devotees will have to ascend on foot.

The route from Pandu to Kamakhya will remain completely closed, while the Mekhela Ujowa route and the Trinath Temple route will remain open for pilgrims.

Kabindra Prasad Sharma, representing the Daloi Society, announced that no VIP or VVIP passes will be issued on June 26 and 27. Regular darshan for all devotees will resume from June 28.

The Kamakhya Temple Administration has urged all devotees to adhere to the guidelines and extend full cooperation to the authorities for a smooth and spiritual celebration.
