N.F. Railway Restores Lumding – Badarpur Route in Record Time

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the restoration of train services over the affected stretch between KM 108/6-8 in the Jatinga Lumpur – New Haflong section of the Lumding – Badarpur Hill Section. Starting today, 29th June, 2025, limited train operations will be allowed between 12:00 and 18:00 hours, with full-fledged train services to resume from Monday, 30th June, 2025.

Following the successful restoration of the Lumding – Badarpur Hill Section, train movement through the previously affected stretch is now running smoothly. The first empty goods train passed through the section and departed from New Harangajao at 10:21 hrs, marking the resumption of traffic. Train No. 13175 Sealdah – Silchar Kanchenjunga Express, which began its journey on 28th June 2025, became the first passenger train to traverse the restored section without any hindrance.

It was soon followed by Train No. 13174 Sabroom–Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express, which also operated seamlessly on its original route. In addition, a special relief train from Rangiya ran successfully and crossed the affected section while going towards Agartala, facilitating the movement of stranded passengers and restoring vital connectivity to the region.

The section between KM 108/6-8 was severely impacted by multiple earth slips triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, resulting in major disruptions to both passenger and freight train services. In order to closely assess the situation and oversee the restoration efforts, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), personally visited the site, reviewed the ongoing work and motivated the field teams on the ground.

Under his direction, maximum manpower and machinery were deployed and NFR teams worked tirelessly, day and night, to clear the debris and restore the track. Their dedicated efforts have ensured the safe and smooth resumption of train services on this critical hill section.

Northeast Frontier Railway appreciates the patience and understanding of passengers and the general public during this disruption. Passengers are advised to stay updated through official NFR communication channels for the latest travel and train service information.
