Indian Army and Captain Jintu Gogoi Trust, Khumtai, Golaghat (Assam) came forward together to celebrate the 26th martyrdom day of Late Capt Jintu Gogoi, VrC (Posthumously) from the decorated 17th Battalion the GARHWAL Regiment of the Indian Army.
The annual memorial event to commemorate the day was held at Khumtai on June 30, 2025. The proceedings commenced with Wreath Laying by Jorhat Military Station Commander on the Captain Jintu Gogoi Memorial. Highlight of the event was the Memorial run (5 & 15 Km), keenly contested by participants from all age groups. Jyotishna Saikia, aged 6 years, a Budding Marathoner was designated as the Ambassador for the Memorial run, completing 5 Km distance in 28 minutes. Other activities included sensitization of participants with the gallant act of Late Captain Jintu Gogoi, VrC(Posthumously), a Motivational talk by the Station Commander & Flying Officer Thogiram Gogoi (Retd), Father of the Braveheart.
The proceedings culminated with felicitation of the winners and a group photograph. More than 300 locals including Army & Police personnel participated in the event, marking Supreme Sacrifice of the brave son of the soil. A conscious decision was also taken by the Organising Committee to hold the event on 21 November in future, commemorating the Birth Anniversary of the officer.
