In a series of operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formation under Spear Corps launched intelligence-based operations in the hill and valley districts namely Jiribam, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tengnoupal, Imphal East and Imphal West recently in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP. The operations resulted in apprehension of eight cadres from the hill and valley-based groups and recovery of 43 weapons, five Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
On an intelligence -based joint search operation was carried out in Kangchup Kharang area of Imphal West district, resulting in recovery of two IEDs, eight weapons comprising one .303 rifle, one single barrel gun, one 9mm carbine machine gun, one bolt action rifle, four pistols, and war like stores.
In Bishnupur district, a joint intelligence-based operation launched recently in general area Nachou village resulted in recovery of four weapons comprising two carbines, one MA-1 rifle, one 9mm Pistol, ammunition and war like stores.
An intelligence-based operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in general area of Soibam Leikai, Imphal East district, resulted in recovery of two pistols and ammunition. On the next day two joint intelligence based operations in general areas Samurou Wangoi and Lamsang Lairensajik on Kameng Sabal Road in Imphal West district, resulted in recovery of four pistols.
In Bishnupur district, a joint operation in Torbung Sabal led to the recovery of five weapons comprising one AK-47 rifle, one SLR, three SBBL guns, ammunition and war like stores.
In the general area of Wangoo Tarung Mamang Ching, located about 4 kilometres northeast of Wangusabal in Kakching district, an intelligence based joint operation of Indian Army and Manipur Police resulted in recovery of five weapons comprising one AK-56 Rifle, one INSAS Rifle, one bolt-action single-barrel rifle, one .32mm pistol, another single-barrel firearm, three IEDs, ammunition and war like stores. On the same day in Bishnupur district in general area Sabal Leikai, an intelligence based joint operation by Indian Army, Manipur Police and CRPF resulted in recovery of five weapons comprising one Self Loading Rifle (SLR), one AK 47, three single barrel guns, ammunition and war like stores.
A major weapon recovery resulted in a joint operation of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in general area Makhabasti Village in Jiribam District, wherein 10 weapons comprising one 7.62mm SLR Rifle, one locally made SLR Rifle, one 5.56mm INSAS Rifle, one 5.56mm M4 Carbine, four locally made Single Barrel Rifles, one locally made Pistol, one Pompi (improvised mortar), ammunition and war like stores were recovered.
Intelligence based operations in hill and valley regions also resulted in apprehension of eight cadres. The apprehended cadres and the recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.
These coordinated efforts by security forces highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
