To honour the indomitable spirit and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces on Kargil Vijay Diwas, the 1 Assam Battalion NCC conducted a Social Service Cleanliness Drive on 26th July 2025 at Lachit Ghat, Guwahati.
The initiative was a blend of patriotism and public service, echoing the true spirit of NCC.
With the participation of over 300 NCC cadets from various schools and colleges under the battalion, the event began with a respectful homage to the Kargil martyrs. Cadets assembled in disciplined formation, observed a moment of silence, and took a pledge to uphold cleanliness and contribute meaningfully to society.
The drive focused on cleaning the Lachit Ghat premises and its adjoining areas—a location of historical and cultural importance to the people of Assam. Armed with brooms, gloves, and waste collection bags, the cadets demonstrated exceptional teamwork and dedication, removing litter and raising awareness among locals and visitors about environmental responsibility.
The enthusiastic participation turned the event into a powerful visual message: that serving the nation isn’t limited to the battlefield—every act of social responsibility is a tribute to those who laid down their lives for the country.
This initiative also reinforced the core values of the NCC motto – “Unity and Discipline”, while aligning with the vision of a Swachh Bharat. The event drew admiration from passersby, locals, and civic authorities alike, many of whom stopped to encourage the cadets and express their appreciation.
By merging remembrance with action, the cadets gave Kargil Vijay Diwas a deeper and lasting meaning—showing that the legacy of India’s heroes continues through the everyday actions of responsible citizens.
