MY Bharat J&K and Ladakh celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas today with a solemn Padyatra and homage ceremony to honor the valor and sacrifice of the Kargil martyrs.
The celebration was graced by Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, as the Chief Guest. Minister of State for Defence , Sanjay Seth was also participated in the Padyatra. The flag-off was conducted by a 1999 Kargil War veteran or war widow, symbolizing the spirit of courage and remembrance.
The Padyatra, covering approx distance of 1.5 kilometers, will commence at 7:00 a.m. from the polo ground near Himabass Public High School, Drass. Over 1,000 youth from diverse sections of society, including youth icons and members of various civil society organizations, participated in this collective march of remembrance.
Subsequent to the Padyatra, Dr. Mandaviya, accompanied by 100 MY Bharat volunteers, proceeded to the Kargil War Memorial to lay wreaths and offer homage to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil conflict. On this occasion, the Hon’ble Minister will also felicitated 26 women bikers of the Shakti Udgosh Foundation, who arrived at the War Memorial after completing a long-distance motorbike rally undertaken as a tribute to the martyrs.
