INDIAN WAR HEROES, MEN OF HIGH CALIBER

Pratyusha Mukherjee, Drass,Kargil

Yesterday India commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas across the country. 527 are sleeping to awaken millions of Indians. Heroes of kargil war, were born in different times, in different places but had gathered together in one place to die because of mother’s call. These courageous people had chosen to live in remembrance rather than to live physically.

Martyrs of Kargil war had ensured two points for lndia by sacrificing their future without any desire for earthly pleasures so that the places of lndia remain safe.

The 527 martyrs of kargil war will tell the upcoming generation that we sacrificed our lives not for attacking any country but to stop the attack which happened on our own country. The Kargil war memorial is a testimony that we sacrificed our lives not to grab the land of another country but to save the parts of our Motherland.

Soldiers abandon their mothers , they leave their life partner they promise to stay with, they prefer to stay in framed pictures for their children so that the shape of lndia doesn’t change.

It is human nature to struggle for survival but the Supreme sacrifice is to struggle till death to ensure the safety of the country and countrymen.

All the Indians who have settled in different countries to live a better life must visit the memorials of martyrs to understand how the soldiers of the country are keeping lndia safe by sacrificing their lives.

There is no dearth of traitor and mongrel in the country, if people are facing a dilemma or having trouble in choosing between these two ” Money – Betrayal” and “Selfless patriotism ” then remember the martyrs of kargil war.

During kargil war Pakistan had demonstrated its brutality by handing over the mutilated and disfigured body of  Capt. Saurabh Kalia along with the bodies of 5 soldiers to India, despite this , after the war ended Indian army buried the Pakistani soldiers with rituals who were killed in the war, this is the proof that we show humanity even with the corpses of enemies.

Who accompanies while living life gets bonded in the bond of relationship?
527 kargil war heroes, came from different states, fought together and got martyred, what relationship, what bond did they have among themselves?
Whoever accompanies at the time of death or dies next to someone in war gives company till the next birth.

The spirit to fight and kill or be killed, what greater passion can there be than this?

In a battlefield, no one knows when one will face death, yet it is acceptable to leave beloved ones but willing to die for those countrymen whom they don’t even know. What kind of peculiar mentality is this , selfishness for the loved ones and Selfless love for the strangers?

History is witness that India never attacked any country first, neither in the name of religion nor for subjugation, only retaliated in response to the attack.

Our Mothers’ laps were ruined, wives were made widows, children were deprived of the shadow of their fathers.

All these martyrs often ask one question ,Why do you people do politics and business on our martyrdom? Why do you feed sweets to the ________ standing on the other side of the barbed wire fence during Diwali? Why to play games with the ________ ? Why allowing the _______ in the Indian flim industry?
An enemy in any form is an enemy.

All the memorial sites of the martyrs are not tourist spots but pilgrimage places only for Indians, neither for the people of any religion nor for the people of any caste.

Even though silence remains in the war memorials but on finding the presence of any person every martyr narrates the tale of his service and sacrifice for the country with unspoken words.

Kargil and longewala war memorials , Galwan valley memorial, Baba Harbhajan Singh temple , rifle man Jaswant Singh Rawat’s memorial etc , martyrs of all these places show that we have kept a handful of land with us as a reminder of our sacrifices but we request the fellow citizens that the enemy should not be able to take even an iota of our mother’s land.
