In a landmark initiative under the aegis of Assam Rifles a comprehensive medical camp at Kakching Khunou Market at Kakching, Manipur was organised. The activity reaffirmed humanitarian commitment and restoring civic engagement in a region marked by prolonged socio-political sensitivity.
This outreach initiative was especially significant, signalling a renewed rapport between security forces and the local population in Kakching Khunou in Manipur. After nearly two years of continuous confidence-building measures and welfare programs, Assam Rifles has successfully revived a constructive and trusted connect with the local populace.
The camp catered to the medical needs of over 450 individuals, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), women, students, and the elderly—providing primary health consultations, free distribution of essential medicines, and spreading awareness on preventive healthcare.
Ward Councillor Smt Laima Devi inaugurated the camp by lighting a ceremonial candle, symbolising a new dawn of resilience, wellness, and peace. In her address, she lauded Assam Rifles as the “true sentinels of peace,” acknowledging their unwavering dedication to community welfare and regional harmony.
The presence of various Civil Society Organisations added to the camp’s inclusive and cooperative spirit. The distribution of refreshments marked a warm conclusion to the day, reinforcing a shared commitment to healing and progress.
Through this medical camp, Assam Rifles not only delivered critical healthcare support but also took a meaningful step forward in rebuilding public trust and strengthening its role as a pillar of peace, health, and communal unity in Manipur.
ASSAM RIFLES PAYS HOMAGE TO IT’S BRAVEHEARTS
In a heartfelt tribute to the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty, Assam Rifles, conducted a wreath-laying ceremony to honor the memory of Late Naik Harka Bahadur Chhetri, Late Rifleman Yam Bahadur Chhetri, and Late Lance Naik Lal Bahadur Chhetri.
These bravehearts made the supreme sacrifice on August 1, 1973, during a convoy movement from Dimapur to Imphal. At approximately 10:30 AM the convoy comprising seven personnel along with an Army driver and an Army Non-Commissioned Officer came under heavy fire from unidentified insurgents. In the ensuing exchange, the three soldiers sustained fatal injuries while courageously retaliating to protect their comrades and uphold the mission.
The solemn ceremony began with the laying of wreaths by the Senior Officials, followed by a moving narration of the incident to instill a sense of pride, honor, and remembrance among the ranks. The tribute was attended by personnel of Assam Rifles, all of whom paid their respects through wreath-laying and a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
The event served as a poignant reminder of the courage and dedication of those who serve the nation selflessly, often in the face of grave danger. Assam Rifles continues to uphold the legacy of its fallen heroes, ensuring their sacrifices remain etched in the collective memory of the force and the country.
JOINT RELIEF OPERATION CONDUCTED BT ASSAM RIFLES AND INDIAN AIR FORCE IN SUPPORT OF PEOPLE
In a vital humanitarian initiative, Assam Rifles in close coordination with the Indian Air Force, successfully conducted a joint ration distribution drive for 18 villages in Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur District, Manipur. These villages had remained cut off since July 17, 2025, following multiple landslides along National Highway 2.
The operation, aptly named Op Sahyog, was spearheaded by the unit at Aina commencing in the morning till noon on August 1, 2025. The mission facilitated the airlifting of six tons of essential supplies including rice, pulses, and other daily necessities, supporting approximately 1,500 affected villagers. Indian Air Force helicopters transported the relief material from Churachandpur to designated drop zones across Henglep Sub Division. Assam Rifles personnel ensured swift collection and equitable distribution of the supplies, reaching every village impacted by the natural calamity.
This coordinated effort underscores the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles and the Indian Air Force to assist distressed communities in remote and inaccessible regions. By responding promptly and effectively, both forces demonstrated their dedication to humanitarian service and regional stability.
INTERACTIVE SESSION ON RELIGIOUS HARMONY AND DIVERSITY CONDUCTED AT MANTRIPUKHRI
In a thoughtful initiative aimed at nurturing unity and promoting the values of secularism, Assam Rifles organised an engaging and interactive session on the theme “Religious Integrity and Diversity in India” at Assam Rifles Public School, Mantripukhri, Manipur, on August 1, 2025.
The event witnessed the participation of students along with faculty members and troops of Assam Rifles. The session explored the significance of religious harmony, cultural inclusivity, and mutual respect in the Indian context. Through meaningful dialogue and storytelling, it highlighted India’s rich heritage of diverse faiths and the constitutional principles that uphold secularism and peaceful coexistence.
Students were encouraged to reflect on the pluralistic nature of Indian society and the role they play in fostering empathy, tolerance, and shared identity.
