Infantry Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at Menchuka to honour the valour, courage and indomitable spirit of the Infantry — the backbone of the Indian Army.

To mark the occasion, an Infantry Day Run was organised at Menchuka, symbolising fitness, teamwork and unity. The event featured 2.4 km and 4 km categories and witnessed enthusiastic participation from both serving personnel and local residents of Menchuka Valley.

Infantry Day commemorates the historic landing of the 1st Battalion, The Sikh Regiment at Srinagar on 27 October 1947 during the Indo–Pak War — a decisive operation that safeguarded the sovereignty of Jammu & Kashmir. The Menchuka event carried forward this legacy of courage and commitment by bringing together soldiers and civilians in a shared celebration of strength, discipline and national pride.

The run began with an energising warm-up session, followed by spirited participation across both categories. Participants showcased endurance, determination and enthusiasm throughout the route. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners and special achievers — including the youngest and oldest participants — were felicitated for their performance and commitment to fitness.

The Infantry Day Run at Menchuka reinforced the ideals of fitness, camaraderie and unity of purpose, reflecting the true spirit of the Infantry and its everlasting bond with the people.
