Major General APS Chahal, ADG NCC Dte West Bengal & Sikkim, addressed Sainik School, Purulia students preparing for SSB interviews, sharing his journey from Sainik School Nagrota (1981) to commissioned officer and Armed Force’s career. From a civil background with no military exposure, he highlighted the transformative discipline of Sainik Schools, superior financial security, comprehensive benefits and unmatched job satisfaction compared to corporate uncertainty.
Emphasising focused preparation in Classes 11-12, he urged cadets to channel energy towards a single goal: “Pains today, gains tomorrow.” The military offers respect, leadership, adventure and lifelong security for officers and families—far beyond civilian careers.
Major General APS Chahal, SM, is a distinguished Indian Army officer, earlier served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Agnibaaz Division and known for focusing on operational readiness, digital learning, and youth empowerment within the forces and NCC. An alumnus of Sainik School Nagrota, he emphasizes patriotism, technological advancement, and honoring war heroes, seen in initiatives like inaugurating shooting ranges, digital exam centers, and flagging off expeditions.
