Based on specific intelligence received from own sources regarding the movement of illegal Methamphetamine tablets, an operation was launched by Assam Rifles yesterday. A Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was established in the general area of Kakichhuha village, Lawngtlai District.
At approximately 1130 hours, four suspects travelling from Myanmar to India through a boat via the Koladyne River were intercepted during the operation. On thorough search of the individuals, approximately 80,000 Methamphetamine tablets weighing 3.952 kg and valued at approximately Rs 11.85 crores were recovered and seized. Four individuals (03 Myanmar nationals and 01 Indian national) involved in the illegal transportation were apprehended on the spot.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Mr Lairamlaina, s/o J Dangia, Age 40 years, Resident of Bungtlang, District Lawngtlai, Mizoram Mr Chaimoungthein, Age 17 years, Resident of Thuenainhwon, Myanmar Mr Thanlaing, Age 17 years, Resident of Pyuagmoung, Myanmar. Mr Thanlaigwon, Age 15 years, Resident of Pyuagmoung, Myanmar.
The recovered Methamphetamine tablets along with the apprehended individuals have been handed over to Police Station Bungtlang, Lawngtlai District, Mizoram for further legal proceedings.
